I, too, am America Premieres at Midwest Clinic December 2024

The United States Coast Guard Band will premiere Henry Dorn’s new song cycle, I, too, am America, at the 78th Midwest International Band and Orchestra Clinic in Chicago, IL at 5:30p on December 18, 2024 with soprano Lisa Williamson as soloist. The work has been the product of a multi-year collaboration between Dorn, Williamson, and her husband - Captain Adam Williamson - who serves as the seventh director of the United States Coast Guard Band. The work, for mezzo soprano and wind ensemble, sets text from Langston Hughes’ The Weary Blues, Hughes’ first published book and one that characteristically portrays the African American experience in 1920’s.
